Who we are

… and why we’re different

Background

Founded by Tim Neill over 20 years ago, TNA has built up one of the most experienced and respected eLearning development teams in the industry and earned the trust of many major corporations. We hope that our substantial ‘back catalogue’ of projects speaks for itself, with hardly a subject or an application that we haven’t been involved with.

From fire-fighting and servicing HV equipment to dealing with stress or understanding the action of a new drug, we have the ability to turn any subject matter into highly effective and enjoyable staff training and assessment programs.

The TNA difference

Our most valuable asset is our people since we believe that the greatest single difference we offer over our competitors is the closeness of the working relationships we have with our customers.

Of course, you expect beautiful graphics, intriguing animations and clever interactions, even 3D virtual worlds, from any developer but that would miss the point. There are many talented, creative people in the eLearning industry and some of them have worked at TNA for years. We have no exclusivity over talent.

The real difference we offer is in being able to pull all of these skills together and combine them with fertile imagination, a professional

enthusiasm and a spirit of mutual collaboration which we believe is unique. And we are genuinely thrilled when our clients put these experiences into words:

NestlĂ© commented that TNA “… worked as true partners, extremely responsive to our changing needs”.

Anglian Water felt we had “… taken a highly organised and yet flexible approach to working with us”.

And one of the largest pharmaceutical companies said that “Working with TNA was a pleasure.”

The challenge of delivering bespoke eLearning

Starting out

Commissioning bespoke eLearning from a company you’ve never worked with is a huge act of faith, demanding a high degree of (as-yet) unearned trust.

Often, there’s no existing material or content on which to build the new program – it’s just you and your requirements (perhaps just a PowerPoint file), the developer’s team and a blank sheet of paper.

This is when we truly begin our creative journey with you; when we discover your likes and dislikes; review previously created work in the same vein together and agree a timescale and a budget, which is usually fixed!

Need for a robust process

The less creative (and yet arguably even more important) activity is in defining the detail of what you want and in tightly managing the project from start to finish. Here, there are strong similarities with a building project. As the client wanting a unique house built, you sign up an architect to design and document the project, commission builders and agree payment points.

Without your input and approval, the designs can’t be finalised. Without detailed signed-off drawings, the builders can’t begin to set the foundations. And at every stage, you’ll want the project manager to keep you abreast of progress, document and manage

any changes you want made and keep all trades fully occupied and if possible, keep delivery on time.

Avoiding surprises

As you’ll see under ‘How we work’, each of these tasks has a direct parallel in successfully developing an eLearning project. We ensure there will be ‘no surprises’ and that means taking great care in defining, documenting and managing your project from start to finish, so that what we deliver is as close to your vision as possible.

Thoroughness

We create detailed documentation which never leaves any doubt as to what is being produced, including technical specifications, scope and

structure of planned content with study times and learning objectives, meticulous instructional design and scripting, Alpha and Beta version review sheets, weekly project management reports and continuously updated project timelines.

It’s a complex but necessary process and one we’ve refined over many years to arrive at the robust system we use today. When compared with other eLearning developers, this thoroughness always emerges as a major differentiator.
